Order and Delivery Apps for Restaurants
Even as some COVID restrictions have started to relax, customer expectations for use of technology are now greater than ever. Customers are no longer content with just a menu listed as part of the restaurant’s website. Instead, restaurant customers expect technology add-ons within the website to create an added layer of customer convenience.
At a minimum, customers want an app on the website offering an easy way to order takeout or delivery from the restaurant’s menu. Restaurants offering only sit-down service are finding it harder to keep seats filled. According to a recent survey conducted in mid-August by the National Restaurant Association, thirty-seven percent of adults say they ordered takeout or delivery instead of going out to a restaurant based on their concerns about the COVID Delta variant. With more than a third of the population preferring takeout or delivery, restaurants are falling behind if these options are not an easy-to-use part of their website.
Third-party applications, such as Door Dash and Chow Now, can often communicate directly to the restaurant’s point-of-sale system and can seamlessly integrate into the website allowing the customer to quickly place an online order. Restaurants that make the ordering process convenient truly have an advantage over restaurants without an easy-to-use ordering app.
